The traveling art exhibition will showcase twelve of Romero Britto's vivid and whimsical monumental sculptures May 28 - June 21, 2009 and will be displayed in a sculpture garden in grass area at The Pike on the corner of Pine Ave. and Shoreline Dr.


Children's Painting Party Inspired by Romero Britto's Work
 
June 7, noon - 3pm - In celebration of summer, kids can participated in a garden-themed painting party.  Participants will have an opportunity to create whimsical decorative garden sticks.
June 14, noon - 3pm  - The Pike will be focusing on pet adoption.  Kids will have an opportunity to paint a pet dish for their very own beloved pet.
June 21, noon - 3pm  - It's all about dad on Father's Day.  Local kids are encouraged to come participate in the last painting event by creating a special gift for dad.
All painting parties will be located next to the Britto Sculpture Garden (on the corner of Shoreline Dirve and Pine Ave.)


Dance Under the Stars during Salsa Nights

Experience Latin culture in Long Beach on Saturday evenings in June with live salsa music and lessons.

Salsa Nights will take place in Band Shell near the Pine Ave. Peir (just between Gladstone's and P.F. Chang's.)




Cold Stone Creamery's Romero Britto Ice Cream Concoction Contest

Cold Stone Creamery and The Pike encourages everyone to design an ice cream concoction inspired by the vibrant colors and whimsical themes of the Britto Tours America sculptures. After touring the sculptures, customers can visit the Cold Stone Creamery exclusively at The Pike and pick up an entry form. Describe and illustrate the ultimate Britto Ice Cream Concoction using existing Cold Stone Creamery flavors and mix-ins. Entry forms should be returned to The Pike Cold Stone Creamery between May 28 and June 15, 2009. Entries will be judged on creativity, inspiration from the Britto Tours America sculptures and good taste. The winners will be announced on June 17, 2009 and will receive A Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream Party for Six.


Romero Britto Inspired Photo Contest

The Pike, in partnership with The District Weekly, is hosting a weekly photo contest throughout the exhibition. Visitors are encouraged to take photos incorporating the Britto Tours America sculptures and submit them to contests@thedistrictweekly.com. Tenants at The Pike are donating small weekly prizes. Each week, The District Weekly will select winners, who will receive prizes donated by The Pike tenants.
